The Green Room Amsterdam proudly presents
CARTE BLANCHE #2 'Situatie gewijzigd,'
a solo exhibition by Jop Vissers Vorstenbosch

Jop describes himself as a 'painter who invents everything.' For example, by portraying his paintings in self-built sculptural environments that add a strongly defining context. He also takes a lightbox as a base and places various layers of painted plexiglass in front of it. This results in painterly installations where, instead of layers of paint in a traditional painting, layers of light and material define the image. Born into a family of painters, Jop is no stranger to using paint as his chosen language, now he tries to redefine his way around paint from that of what his parents taught him as a young child.

"For this solo exhibition,  I made a new series of paintings where I explore the intense energy of cars through paintings of roadkill. The raw power and speed transform into lively strokes, creating an abstract and rugged series. Look closely, and you'll discover delicate details, such as the painted beak of a run-over bird. A bold sweep of yellow over the bird, like machines painting traffic stripes, captures the essence. I play with the balance of vulnerability and power in both subject and technique."
